    The word Excelsior generally means higher. There is famous Dutch football club with the same name. Excelsior Rotterdam basically is a proficient football club from the region of Rotterdam; it is based in the Kralingen-Crooswijk constituency.

    It was started in the year 1902 and was initially known as 'Rotterdamse Voetval en Atletiek Vereniging Excelsior'. The club is placed in the top division of the Dutch League, Eredivisie. At present it is the dependency club of Feyenoord and generally gets money and players from Feyenoord Rotterdam.

    Excelsior's home ground is Stadion Wouldestein and has a total seating capacity of three thousand five hundred and twenty seven. Ton Lokhoff is currently the team manager, whereas Nico Janssens is the present club chairman. They have been nick named as Roodzwarten.
