How Would I Look Up A Vin # On A Car In The 1940-1960?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The older cars do not have a vin tag on the dash like new ones. On fords, there is usually a metal tag on the firewall under the hood. On gm's there is usually a metal tag in the doorframe near the body by fisher tag.  If those fail, the vin is stamped on the frame near the engine but it is not very easy to find due to grease, rust, or just time
