    She was Queen of England, and the last ruler of the Tudor dynasty. She is important for two main reasons, firstly for removing the French from Scotland and preventing the Catholics from placing Mary on the throne.

    Shes most famous for defeating the Spanish armada and preventing the Spanish from invading England, even though the English were outnumbered and the Spanish were supported by the pope. It is argued that this was the turning point at which the English overtook the Spanish as the most powerful naval force in the world.
