No. Exercising and eating maybe 4 small, HEALTHY meals a day will help you lose weight. But if you want to make the most dramatic change, don't forget to include exercise. A diet with the best results includes exercise.
I will agree with the others that eating only one meal a day is not the best way to lose weight, but I have to confess that I did do it. I weighed approx. 215 lbs when I finally decided I needed to do something about my BIG butt! I had A LOT of weight to lose. This is not the typical, "Oh… I weigh 110 lbs., but I really want to weigh 100 lbs." If this is the case for you: You weigh so little already, that your body will go into automatic starvation mode. If you have a lot of weight to lose, it might be a good way to "jump start" your discipline. I needed to have that "jump start" to stay motivated.
I only had one meal a day for about 2 weeks. (A grilled chicken breast and a small salad, NO DRESSING) I lost 20 lbs in those first two weeks. Then I did the Scarsdale diet for 2 weeks, and lost about 14 lbs. more. After that I "fell of the wagon" and I had a "pig out" weekend, which resulted in a 6 lbs. weight gain. I got back on track and started doing things the right way. I eat several small meals a day (and snacks) and I walk for an hour everyday… NO EXCUSES. Now that I have reached my goal weight (130 lbs., 5'6"), I do indulge, about once a week, with no repercussions! I look great and feel even better!!!!
Word of CAUTION: For a while at the beginning, when I was not eating healthfully, I lost A LOT of my hair. Fortunately, I had a good amount of hair to start with, so it wasn't too bad, but it still stunk! Vitamins are key, if you are going to be depriving your body of nutrients that it would typically get from the food you eat, you have to supplement it in some way.
It is not a good idea to only eat one meal a day. Not only will your body go into starvation mode, since it will attempt to maintain energy rather than lose it, if it thinks there is no food coming in, but your blood sugar within your body will plummet and then after your one meal per day you will find that it soars, then crashes again.
This will give you feelings of hunger and tiredness/lethargy and a general feeling of not being 'on top'.
Moreover, the fact that your body has gone into starvation mode will make your body lose weight less quickly than if you were eating three or four small meals per day.
You may find initially that you lose weight quick;y, but after a few days this will stop when the starvation mode kicks in, so it is a really bad idea and you should instead lose weight by small, regular meals.
No you are more likely to put it on because your body will feel as if it is being starved so will start to store fat. It is not a good idea to only have one meal a day, have four small ones.
I actually started to do this a couple of days ago and so far so good. I do not feel as if I am not "on top" of things yet and hope all goes as well for me as it did for kHUGGINS. I am also over 200 pounds and feel this is the only jumpstart for me, but I do plan on drinking the shakes just to be on the safe side and keep energy/blood sugar levels in tact.

It will help you lose weight , but it isn`t a healthy thing to do , especialy if you are used to eating a lot. It will shock your body . You`ll be so hungry that you won`t be able to think . Don`t you rememer when you were in school ? On test days they`d always tell you to eat a good breakfest because you dont think as when your hungry !
It's possible- but I wouldn't risk it! I mean seriously, would you rather live your life curvy or starve yourself to death??? Anyway here are a few dieting tips if you need them;
* Eat three set meals (have the occasional healthy snack)
*DO NOT go on low car diets
* Exercise for at least an hour a day (this really helps!)
*Eat plenty of fruit and veg (and drink lots of water!)
*Stay away from fatty foods!
Hope this helps, good luck =)

Let's think about this for a moment. Do you think cavemen sat down to breakfast lunch and dinner and few little snacks in between? Heck no! They ate when there was food and then they fasted. Eating one meal a day can be a great way to control your weight. This is especially true for those who have trouble stopping until they are full. Don't be afraid to think outside the box. There are too many people that will tell you how you are supposed to do things. I say when it comes to eating let your own body and your own experience guide you. Good luck!

Don't do it at all , maybe at first u'll loose some weight but it will come back and your body will loose health .
Sports are best way for loosing weight , and do not eat the things witch has much fat . Like chocolate or cakes , ... And turn your eating meal 6 times a day instead of three ( or one for u ) and breakfast is really important eat it always . And fruits and vegetables are perfect too .
And don't forget to exercise . Without exercise it's so much harder to loose weight .
Good luck

I have been eating only 1 meal a day for well over 6 years now and i have NEVER been overweight or hungry or unhealthy. I have 1 meal in the evening with a can of coke as a treat maybe, and during the daytime i just drink filtered water and maybe a yogurt for a snack. You do need to do a bit of exercise of course but i just walk the dog for an hour and it works for me. It maybe hard at first but once your body is used to the routine you wont want to do anything different!

No, if you want to loose weight you eat small regular meals and exercise. Also dont eat junk food but if you do only have it on a friday evening for an example. The key is exercise and eat food that fills you up but not with loads of calories
Ya , because once you start to do it then you will get use to it and then you can still be doing it but even though it's unhealthy at least it will help you loose the unwanted weight right? Ya .

Just read over these comments, and had a fun game of 'spot the anorexics'. Because that's what this is. At first, you won't lose weight - your body will desperately try to remain stable. Then, finally it will give in, and you will see a sudden drop as your body uses up your natural sugar supplies (the sugar is supported in your body by a large amount of water, hence the weight drop). After that, you will continue to lose weight. This is your body literally eating itself - and no, it doesn't eat the fat, it eats the muscle. You deteriorate. Your mind tells you this is a good thing, that you are 'winning' and that you must continue to starve yourself, cutting down the meals and exercising to lose more weight. It all becomes one big game that you can never win, because you must continue to play, and you can never stop. So please, for your own healthy and sanity, don't start playing with your own life. You're worth more than that. If you want to lose a bit of weight, reduce your portion sizes or make more healthy choices, or if you find yourself snacking between meals, try to address this by snacking on fruit to curb your hunger pangs.

Works great for me. I've been losing about 1 or 2 pounds a week. I've probably cut my daily calorie intake by a third. I don't exercise. I drink lots of cool-aid throughout the day because i work in the heat. If i get really hungry or start feeling really drained, i'll eat something small to take the edge off. But most days i feel great. I suggest eating vitamins because you're probably not going to be getting enough from your food.
I think this is a sustainable way to live. I'll probably start snacking throughout the day once i lose about 20 more pounds.
Metabolism kills. Slowing down your metabolism is a good thing. Eating a lot and exercising like crazy to burn the calories is not natural. Animals in the wild eat and sit under a tree.

I have been doing this for about a year now and i 15. I weigh round about 9stone. But i basically look at inches around my waste and belly. At first i lose a fair amount of weight ane carried on doing it to try and lose more, that didnt really work as the inches go up and down every week. And your proberly think why dont you stop, well it aint as easy as that. Its like a mind game and if i ate any more food in the day i think i would be sick. As rank as it sounds its true. So dont join the game!

Im having the same problems, Im around 175-180 and im 15 years old, I cant loose weight, prob-ley because all this dieting and exercises and calories and metabolism is confusing the **** outta me and it seems too hard, so i guess i dont even try, Plus my life is hectic, No no-one will understand, Ya-ll will say how hectic can a 15 year old's life be, Well no there's not a limit to that, So i wanted to just stop eating then i read about it, and it says i could get weak, weak muscle, weird skin tone and the whole 9 yards, so i wanted to just eat one meal a day, so Noho cant do that either, Its not easy finding a spot to just have a daily lifestyle when u want to run and stuff, and its also hard when your MOM and HER FRIENDS buy you chips and soda's and stuff like that. I need to eat 4 small meals a day, BUT, I have hardly no fruits no veggies or anything like that here in my home, so maybe next grocery shopping time i need to Fix my income of food (A) anyways, Simply. If u dont eat what your needing to eat, witch is less, Then when u get Hungary, the calories and intake of whatever you eat, you gain it immediately, So just i guess i eat 4 meals a day and TRY to find somewhere i can run or something, Idk..And no chips or soda's Just water, Well i cant exercises right now or do any of this right now, but i should start soon, THis is to all the people that think Less you eat, More you loose, No. Thats not it, I wish it was that easy cause i would do it too.
Thanks...

People eat in horrifyingly unnatural ways in modern times in my opinion. The human body is not designed for a continuous regiment of food. The "6 small meals a day" idea is complete garbage to me. Eat to Live, not Live to Eat. I went from 210lbs to 154lbs over the course of six months eating only one somewhat large meal before I went to sleep, and I've maintained that weight for about a year and a half now. I feel fit, clear headed, and just generally better than I have for most of my life.

Some people will tell u that its unhealthy and that ur body will go into starvation mode so u wouldn't lose any weight,etc... Well even if it did go into starvation mode (which im not sure I totally believe), it couldn't stay like that forever. I mean at some point ur body will give in and start to lose weight. And I think that would only happen to people that have very little or no weight to lose to begin with.
As far as being unhealthy goes, if ur overweight already, (as I am), ur probably eating very unhealthy already and causing urself a great deal of harm by being so overweight. Just cause one is overweight dosent mean that one is feeding the body all the proper nutrients that it needs. I know im not. So what the heck is the big deal?
Its only in this country and other affluent countries is eating 5 or 6 meals a day taught. That's probably cause we have an over abundance of food. We have too much. And its a big 'ol money-making industry. Being fat makes a lot of people rich! We have so much food and different variations of the same types of food.
Its crazy. And its driving me crazy which is why I too started eating 1 meal a day in the evening that includes a desert. Also, I might have a cup of yogurt mid-morning or 1 slice of plain turkey breast mid morning if I need to. Also take a multivitamin. I try to drink a lot of water or seltzer during the day but I do not deprive myself of calorie drinks of any kind if I want it. And I usually want it. I've been doing this a few days and my clothes feel a bit loser on me (I haven't weighed myself) and I feel good about myself.
Try it for a little while and if u like it, make sure u see a doctor so he can monitor ur health while u do it, if possible. My doc thinks their is nothing wrong with what Im doing because he thinks that its real important that lose some of this excess weight. Good luck.
I have started doing this one meal a day thing for a week and i thing its great ive lost a bit of weight and i will start to add excise to it to lose more but i dont think this is unhealthy just stay strong

You might lose, but it probably won't stay off. It's best to just eat a low-cal diet spread out throughout the day to keep your metabolism going.
No! Your body will start to store what it does get once a day and ration it out till your next meal. Also when you do eat your one meal it will dramatically spike your blood sugar levels. Then it will drop again for a whole day till your next meal. This causes the same thing as eating only fast food. Diabetes.
Don't go longer then 3 hours without eating. Eat small meals (very small). And stop drinking calories. Eat lots and lots of fiber, protein and veggies.. And don't cut out carbs. Eat healthy carbs like brown rice and oatmeal.
Exercise every day! Raise your heart rate long enough to sweat at least once a day. Even 10 minutes is better then nothing. It's short and sweet but I hope it helps.

No, that is like a lindsay lohan move right there, because you're starving yourself and that's not healthy at all.
