You don't have to belong to a structured religion to be spiritual, you just need to have a belief. Spirituality can be what you choose for yourself, it doesn't have to be defined by others.  I have been on my own spiritual path for many years and still continue to learn more and I don't belong to a specific religion.  I'd be happy to guide you.

I was in your place at one time and I prayed to the Creator to guide me and help me understand, he sent people and books and he helped me to be still, so I could listen to his words. Whenever I started reading something or listening to others, I would pray for me to retain what I needed and discard the rest. Try it okay, you only have to ask.

Look in your phone book for a "nondenominational" church. Those churches will teach you how to be spiritual by reading the bible. They preach only the bible without adding all that other stuff to it. Try it for a couple of weeks you may even like it! :) People in those kind of churches don't judge you, they like you as you are, all are welcome. I'm fairly certain that they would have a bible study for adults. Studying the bible is what you are looking for according to your question.
