I grew up on a farm, and I was there for the first 15 years of my life.  Would I move back to one?  No.  I just didn't like living so far away from everything.  It might be okay to live on a small acreage within five miles of a city of at least 100,000 people and to have some privacy in that regard, I like the city life too much.

I come from a family of 8 kids, that was enough of a farm for me, we had dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, fish, turtles, magpies, and before we moved, the  parents were thinking about getting a pig. I miss all the animals, but alas, expense keeps me from getting the house full of pets.

Yes, but I did love to cook with my mother, and I remember a lot of her recipes, so I am lucky there to have spent that time with her. She could make oatmeal a 3 course meal if she had to. lol

I would love to have a mini farm.  My mother grew up on a farm and I remember when I was a youngster that we go out to Kansas and visit the family every year until I was 13 years old.  My sister-n-law has a mini farm now she has a horse, 3 pigs for slaughterings, chickens, roosters only 2, ducks and she was thinking about a cow, we might go in half with her, but we will wait and see.  With the soaring prices and they will keep going up, I think it will be wise to start a mini farm for the family, but right now you need the town's approval and the space to have one.

Yes you do, because of the stink is produces and the noise that some animals makes, also you have to regard for your neighbors if they do not like having to live next door to a small farm they can bring it up in the next town meetings. We have that a lot where I live in NH. Where I live you can have dogs and cats but no farm animals or even chickens to help with the insect populations.
