What Happened In 1976?

In 1976 a number of momentous events took place like the United States celebrating its 200th anniversary of Independence. Jimmy Carter is elected as President of the United States defeating incumbent Gerald Ford. For aviation and space exploration 1976 was an important year with the NASA space shuttle Viking2 landing on Mars and the Concorde beginning its trans-continental flights from New York to Europe.

In 1976 the Olympic Games made famous by gymnast Nadia Comaneci's perfect 10 performance, were held at Montreal in Canada while the Winter Olympics were held at Innsbruck in Austria. Also the Apple Computer Company was formed by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
