The Globe Theater was built in 1599 in London. In June 1613 it burned down during a performance of Henry the Eighth. It was rebuilt in 1614. In 1642 the Puritans had all theaters in London closed. In 1644 it was torn down. In 1989 some of the original foundation was found. In 1997 a reconstruction was built and opened as Shakespeare's Globe. it sits about 750 ft from the original site.
