Are Cheap Promotional Pens Always A Good Deal?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

No. In fact, they may actually do more harm than good. For while the company will want to see instant results, so too will the customer. Skimping can easily backfire if your cheap giveaway pen refuses point-blank to write.

No matter the value of the pen itself or the fact that it was free, the negative experience with your pen will stick and possibly influence future purchasing decisions. So cheap pens are not necessarily the good deal they may appear.

The debate here is whether the pens you are ordering are cheap, or good value. If you haven't used the supplier before, it may be worthwhile asking for samples or placing a small test order to check the quality.

Price point sensitivity should not be too much of an issue when you consider the unit price and the potential goodwill and branding exposure you gain. At the same time, the promotional pen isn't really much to shout about. It's a small token of appreciation, a goodwill gesture in return for a customer's business.

It is hard to say whether cheap promotional pens are good deals, it all depends upon what the company is or whom you want to give away a pen. If you are small firm then a promotional pen for internal office use is a good choice. But if you are owner of that company then you need to go for some costlier pen.
