Mirach is a traditional name for the star Beta Andromedae and can be located in the constellation Andromeda.
The distance of the star from the earth is approximately 200 light years and is classified under semi regular variable star. Its temperature is 3800 degree Kelvin which tells about the amount the invisible infrared radiated from it. The magnitude of its brightness varies from +2.01 to +2.10. This star shines 1900 times more brightly than the sun. It is a massive star and is three to four times the mass of the sun. It has a core made of helium and carbon.
Some people believe that its name is a mistake and originally meant to be Mizar which means loin, but variety of mistake led the name of the star to its present form.
