Blurtit is a lot of different things: it is a search engine, a place to share knowledge, a place to learn.
Officially, Blurtit.com has been "created to provide useful Questions and Answers between a wide range of site users." This somewhat functional explanation is perhaps selling it rather short. For Blurtit, it can be argued, is greater than the sum of its parts.
While there are other Question and Answer sites around, none, in my opinion, come near Blurtit for the sheer diversity of questions being asked, nor the detailed answers it is possible to obtain from a world wide community of users with nothing more than the kudos of their Blurtit rating and a desire to help motivating them to answer.
The name Blurtit is as good a name as any for this kind of site where you can logon and blurt out what it is you want to know the answer to. For those with the answer, it's easy to click and blurt out what they know.
