    The suffix is being used to form the transitive verbs nouns that are used to denote a person who has benefited from the act that is specified by the use of the verb. The suffix is among the most common one and you can find several examples that are based on this suffix. One of the most common examples is the word 'employee' and it defines a person who is getting the benefits of getting employed and after performing his acts.
         
    Sometimes the word is also being used in association with intransitive verbs to form a meaningful word. Escapee and addressee are among the prime examples of the use of the word in this way.
