How Can We Stop Harassment On The Job Site?

You can do 3 things as a beginning.  Begin keeping a written record of the offenses - what they were - dates - who committed them.  After you have several instances recorded, go directly to the offending person and tell them straight out that you will no longer tolerate the treatment you have been receiving.  Don't mince words, be direct so that there is no way you can be misunderstood.  Tell this person that your next step will be to go to one of his superiors.  If it does not end there, do as you promised.  Go to his/her superior and take your written record with you (give them a copy, you keep the original).  Tell the superior that you have tried to talk to the offending person but it did no good.  Therefore, it is up to him to make the harassment stop.  If that is not enough to stop the person then you go to H.R.  Tell them the steps you have already taken and see if they will step in (give them a copy of the recorded offenses also).  Let H.R. Know that your next step will be to contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  You can just about be positive that H.R. Will move on this quickly.  They will not want you to bring the E.E.O.C into the picture.  Just be sure you have that written record......
