Are There Any Table Tennis Championships?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are three major table tennis competitions, namely the Olympic table tennis tournament, the World Championships and the World Cup. A player who wins all these three majors in one year is known as the Grand Slam winner. China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Sweden, South Korea, France and Germany are the countries that have produced many table tennis champions. Asian and European players have dominated the international table tennis rankings ever since its inception.

The governing body for table tennis is the International Table Tennis Federation (abbreviated as the ITTF). The ITTF, which organises the table tennis tournaments, is headquartered at Chemin de la Roche, 11, 1020 Renens/Lausanne (Switzerland). They can be contacted on telephone at 41 21 340 7090 or by fax at 41 21 340 7099, or by e-mail at ittf@ittf.com. The office of the president of the ITTF and the marketing division is located at Ottawa, Canada, and the Asia office of the ITTF is located at Shanghai, China.
