How Do You Make Baby Chick?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It takes a hen and a rooster to make a baby chick.  I would not recommend trying this trick on
your own after all, the hen and rooster are the pro's here.  After about 12 weeks of age the
hen will begin to lay eggs. Until then she is called a pullet. The eggs she lays will be infertile,
(no baby chick inside).  When you add the rooster the chances of getting a baby chick will
become more likely.  A hen lays about every 24 hrs and the shell is the last thing that is made
before you find it.  While the egg is still being formed, inside the hen, the rooster has to fertilize
it. Once that is done the egg continues to form only this time it will have the little speck which
will become the baby chick.  Once the egg is laid the hen may begin to get broody.  She will
become very protective of her egg, or eggs and she will sit on them without eating until they
hatch. I hope you will be able to see the process from beginning to end for yourself someday,
it makes it easier to understand.
