Care for turtles is approximately divided into care for water turtles and care for basking turtles. While there are some general care tips for both you will want to go to your local veterinarian first for a check up. He or she can then advise you on care for your turtle along with any special care instructions. There are different diets that are species-specific.
Two sites which will come in handy for further details, segregated on the basis of the type of turtle to be cared for would be www.chelonia.org/Articles/bcwaterturtles.htm and /www.chelonia.org/articles/basiccarebasking.htm.
Construct a simple shelter to retreat which offers your turtle a place to retreat when it grows weary being in the open. Always remember to keep the water your turtle uses clean in order to prevent health problems. Another tip to promote health would be to net or to siphon all turtle fecal waste as soon as you can.
