When I read your question my first thought was where will I find a website like this? I figured I could find some sites, but they would offer CD's DVD's and a couple of free lessons. What a surprise when the second site I opened is this one.
Under Lessons in the navigation bar on the right click on beginner and browse the pages. The diagrams are about four pages into the beginners lessons. The site belongs to Dave Allen who has been playing guitar for twenty-five (25) and has been a professional guitarist for the past fourteen (14) years. He begins his first lesson with a lesson on Theory, his website

This website is not just a couple of lessons to get you started it is truly a wonderful website and he is doing this free of charge. There is a donation button for anyone who appreciates his willingness to share his wealth of knowledge freely with others.
