Can You Write A Note On Congestive Heart Failure.

Answer Question

When the right ventricle fails to function properly, the right atrium becomes distended and this leads to stasis in the venous system.  The pressure in the superior and inferior vena cava arises.  The veins in the neck are distended, the liver becomes engorged, and the legs become edematous.  This condition is known as congestive heart failure.

Any causes of the heart disease may give rise to the congestive heart failure.  Some of these diseases may first cause left heart failure, whilst in others the right side of the heart is affected from the start.  For instance, in chronic chest diseases, especially chronic bronchitis and emphysema, congestive (right sided) failure develops without going first through the stages of the left heart failure.

Breathlessness is the cardinal symptoms of congestive heart failure.  Cyanosis is due to stagnation of the blood in the venous system, and also the severe congestion in the lungs.  In congestive heart failure the pulse is usually rapid and may be regular or irregular.  The veins in the neck are distended and stand out due to the venous congestion.  Kidney function is affected and this leads to diminished output os urine (oliguria).  Congestion of the stomach and intestines causes the symptoms of dyspepsia.

I have been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and my kidney functions are diminished to a function of 15%.  My pressure is constantly high and medication does not control it as much as is expected that it should.  I was a little careless with my eating habits until lately.  Last year I had pneumonia and did not realize it until the condition had worsen into bronchial pneumonia and called for drastic treatment and hospitalization.  It was after this that I realized that my health had failed considerably and I am trying to deal with it psychologically and emotionally, as well as logically.
