    Is There On The Job Training To Become A Pharmacist Or Do You Have Go To A College For Six Years?

    I heard that CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid may have pharmacists training programs. Of course pharmacy is what i am studying now and i would like to know if there is an alternative to six years of college.

    There may be some alternatives like you mentioned but I'm pretty sure that complete degree holders are preferred in future. It provides you with the in depth knowledge and is vital for your long term career growth.

      Hi dwrenn,

      I'm pretty sure, and I say this with confidence having worked for a pharmacist, that you need to be licensed. Think about it -- you would be handling all types of drugs, some as common as aspirin all the way up to narcotics. No state is going to let someone come in if they have not had the proper training and are not licensed.
