Hi,
Motors' research indicates that 10,000 mile oil changes may actually be quite safe - if conditions are right.
Many people change the oil every 7,000 miles for maximum protection. How often you should change the oil depends on quality of oil and age of the car as well.
It would be recommended to change the oil before the maximum allowed mileage on the oil.
