    It depends on what kind of hamster you have Syrian, or Dwarf.
    The research that I have done, the ranges are from 1.5 years to 5 years.  One book gave the lowest and another gave the highest, that's just approx.  You can go to www.hamsterific.com and do some research there as well.  Plus we also help you with any other questions you may have.

      I once had a golden hamster that lived 4 years almost 5 years. Most of our hamsters did not live past 3 years. I think it was because there were other breeds (teddy bear, and dwarf) It is my belief that dwarf hamsters have a shorter life span while teddy bear and golden hamsters live longer.

          It also dependa on what you feed your hamster.If you feed it unhealthy things like chips,cookies and popcron they wont live for and if you change there diet alot like give them seeds for a month and than give them grasshoppers the next month they will die. but if you give the stuff that are right for there diet diet and dont chang up there diet then they might live longer.

          We give our hamster a wide variety of foods. He always has dry "Hamster Food" available, but he is offered something fresh everyday; could be pieces of pear, apple, carrot, cucumber, lettuce and sometimes, we offer him a little (20 ml) dish of soup which he seems to enjoy. We let him have blackberry and apple crumble once, and he was so keen he climbed in with it! He was so cute, having to groom it out of his fur... We are wondering if this is why he has lived so long. He loves lawn daisies.

          I sort of depends...witch hamster you talking about? If its rather big, its a Syrian with lives 3-4 yrs while darf's only about 1-2 yrs! Hope this helps!

          It lives for 2 to 3 on average. It depends on the breed.

            Hamsters , hamsters, hamsters, i can't get enough of them there so cute and playful,but the only problem is when they die!they can live up too............ I don't think your going to be live me,4-9 years.It's true i had a hamsters that lived for about 7 years and she's still a live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            One of my hamsters named Dixie lived for seven years just because i gave it weed and steroids after its third year of living thats when i started giving him weed and steroids.

                    An average pet hamster has a lifespan of 2-3 years while they do live longer in the wild. They mature sexually from anywhere between 3 weeks to 3 months (depending on breed) and will produce litters several times a year if allowed to mate.


                    You can keep your hamster healthy for longer by feeding it nutritious things like fruit and vegetables, grains and providing it with entertainment and a clean environment to live in. Do not give it foods with high sugar content, as this can cause diabetes, or by giving it other items humans normally eat. Tomato leaves and rhubarb are poisonous for them, and lettuce will not give them that much energy.

                    What?! If you take GOOD care of your hampster, he ir she can live up to 5 years. 5 months!? A hampster who dies after five months was sick or neglected. That is NOT old age or the average age of death for hampsters! Ugh...

                    Hamsters are small, hairy, tailless little cretures, originally from the Middle East andsoutheastern Europe. The most common hamster is the Syrian hamster which is usually a golden colour, although it can be cream or white in colour.
                    Most hamsters decend from just three littermates which were domesticated in the 1930's.
                    The life-span of this little furry friend is around two to three years. By this time, your hamster is the equivilent to 80 human years. As hamsters age they become sleepier and begin to slow down. It's not uncommon for an old hamster to hibernate a lot when he is in his autumnal years and he will begin to change in colour slightly, as if he is going grey.
                    Hamsters make ideal pets for young children because they love company and can often be persuaded to do cute tricks in return for a small treat. They are also easy to look after and cheap to buy so when one goes up to hammy-heaven, it can soon be replaced - often without the child realising!

                    syrian = 2-3
                    dwarf  = 3-4
                    and different breeds of hamsters have a different times of life .
