    ASP stands for Active Server Pages, which provides needed technology for building web pages and performing Web applications. ASP.NET is new program based on the .NET framework with a much improved infrastructure for building web applications.

    To use ASP.NET you must install the Microsoft .NET framework, which is avaialabe from Microsoft and other distributors of Microsoft products.  The ASP.NET comes with the Microsoft .NET Framework available at no charge.  ASP
    .NET runs on Windows Servers 2000; 2003; XP Professional, and XP Home Edition.   

    The ASP Version runs only on Mixcrosoft platforms; the ASP.Net can run on Non-Microsoft platforms, like  Apache. Debugging, which is sometimes difficult with ASP is much improved with ASP.NET technology.
