It is derived from the Greek word Drakon or even the medieval term "draca", which means "dragon". It is also comes from the Italian form Drago and the Latin word Draco. It is pronounced as drayk. The four variants of the name drake are Draco, Dracon, Drago and Drakon. Other names suggested for the name drake are Dirke and Deryke. One of the famous explorers with name drake is the English explorer Sir Francis Drake.
