How Do I Play A Pass Line Bet In Craps?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A pass line bet can only be made on the Come Out roll. The Come Out is the initial roll of the dice and can be determined by looking at the puck. It can only be rolled when the puck is off.  To place this bet, the bettor places the required amount of chips on the clearly marked "Pass Line" section. The dice are rolled by the shooter, and there are three possible outcomes; you will win, lose, or a point will be established.

To win the Pass Line bet on the Come Out roll, the shooter must throw a 7 or 11. The bet is lost if 2, 3 or 12 are thrown. If either of these scenarios occur, the puck stays off and another Come Out roll is required.

Any other number combination thrown establishes a point. The point numbers are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10, and are clearly marked at the top of the craps table. When the point is established, the puck is moved above that number, and switched to on. In this situation, the chips remains on the Pass Line section, but now the point number needs to be rolled to win. If a 7 is rolled, the Pass Line bet loses.

If you win a Pass Line bet at any stage, you will be paid even money. This is because the bet has a low house edge and so must pay at low risk to the casino.
