Many people are afraid of a blood. They even fear an injection. If this is the case of adults then what could one say about children. We all know children are susceptible to mental shocks. This is an issue that should be handled with tact. He may take it as many children do such as he could cry out when in pain. There could be another case where he may fear needles or blood for his whole life. It also depends upon the age of your child. If your child is between three to six years of age you can take this child for a finger test just by informing him that both are going to visit a doctor. Take him to the doctor. When the lancet is being pricked keep him busy with something so that he cannot see is being done to his finger.
If your child is between six and ten then you can give him fair idea of what is usually done during a finger test. Just persuade him to follow you. If this for the first time, you too do a finger prick along with your child. This might give him an idea that it is nothing harmful but a small prick although he might realize the tingling pain after a finger stick.

Adults fear needles just as much as children do. Just let the child know, you are going to feel a little pinch, so he or she will know what to expect.Say it is not going to hurt, it will pinch for a brief second and then it will be over and try to reward the child for being such a good sport afterwards.
