    The Sound Of An Esplosion Is Heard 6 Seconds After Its Occurence By A Man Who Is At A Place 6500 Feet Distant. Can You Find The Rate At Which Sound Travels, Assuming Its Velocity To Be Uniform?

    I don't understand the answer to the question.... Is rate the same as average?

    Since they say the "velocity is uniform" it means the rate is equal to the average.

    6500 feet divided by 6 seconds = 1083.3 feet/second or 738.64 miles/hour
