When Should I Wean The Puppy From The Crate?

Answer Question

A Crate is one of the best training tools for puppy's to dog's.

The crate is like a wolfs den for the pups.

The mother wolf teaches them this is there home, and slowly teaches them about the outside world, by taking them out little bit at a time. When she has teach-ed them the ways of the world out there. Then they are free leave the den.

Its good to put a blanket over the crate to give it that den affect. And teach your pup bit by bit rules and boundaries of you home. Once they understand the rules and listen to your commands through obedient training 100%. You can remove the crate.

You should teach them to stay in the crate with the door open. And come out on command. Thats a start to crate training. And slowly leave the door open for longer periods. They will get the idea. And reward them in the crate with food or praise when they are lying down in a relax state, not excited state. And call them out when they are in a relax state, not when they are excited.

Puppy's mature in 3 to 5 years, depending on the bread. By the time they are matured then you can remove the crate.

I have a Great Dane in the proses of getting trained. Her crate is in our bed room. And at night we leave the crate door open all night till its time to take her out side to do her thing. Soon going to train her it stay in the crate will I'm in the other rooms of the house. It takes time will they are pup's but they will get there.  Good luck. :)
