I have osteoporosis and want to know what the general public thinks about some of the newer drugs for treatment.

    This group of the medicine is not a new. These drugs are being used since long in many indications. Reclast contains zoledronic acid which is bisphosphonate. It stops calcium release from the bones, that is why used to treat osteoporosis. This drug can be used for some other life threatening diseases. Its side effects can be
    1. Hives
    2. breathing problems
    3. Throat, lips, tongue and face swelling
    4. Joint and muscle pains
    5. Fever, chills and flu like conditions
    6. Less urination
    7. Cough
    8. nausea and vomiting
    9. loss of appetite
    10. Changes in bowel movements
    11. Swelling at injection site.
