What Natural Remedies Can I Use For Menstrual Cramps?

Answer Question

Many woman herbalists recommend raspberry leaf tea for easing menstrual cramps. Researchers are unsure what the active compound in raspberry leaf is that helps, but one study showed that this herb helps relax the uterus.
Ginger contains at least six pain-relieving compounds and is used in a wide range of cultures from Venezuela to Vietnam to induce menstruation. Since ginger tea contains six anti-cramping compounds in addition to the pain-relieving ones, it is a trustworthy remedy for menstrual cramps.
A half-cup of fresh bilberries or blueberries also works for many women. These berries have muscle relaxant properties.
Surprisingly, strawberries also work for menstrual cramp relief, according to Germany's Commission E, the scientific body that advises the German government on herbs. So a nice bowl of strawberries and cream might just do the trick!
Red clover is rich in phyto-oestrogens, plant chemicals that act in the body in the same way as female hormones. Put some in your teapot with tea and this just might help. Remember to wash it before you use it!
