There can be many problems underlying loss of appetite. These include:

Constipation
drugs

Depression
Inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erthematosus.
Its best if you consult a doctor and get properly tested.

One of the early symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis is loss of appetite. If your joints are aching and you experience stiffness in the morning lasting over an hour, it could be RA. If you are not experiencing the other symptoms, it probably isn't.

You are right Aicha. Loss of appetite for any reason, be it lupus erythematosis, cancer or constipation, it is not normal and should be checked out. My grandmother had loss of appetite and viral symptoms and the first doctor told her she had a stomach virus, which turned out to be pancreatic cancer.
