Electrical wiring is the term used to describe insulated conductors which serve to transport electricity, and related devices. Building wiring is that term used to describe the supply of power in buildings and edifices.

Domestic AC power plugs and sockets are gadgets which link the home appliances and light fixtures which are usually used in households to the commercial power supply so that the electric power can be transported to them.

Power plugs are basically male electrical connectors which, as the term suggests, fit inside of 'female' electrical sockets. Plugs generally possess three types of contacts, live, neutral and earth, which is optional. Power sockets are usually made in such a way as to disallow any plug which is not made to the similar electrical criterion.

Hence, there are in fact only three wires connected to the socket, as named above, the live wire, the neutral wire and the earthling wire.
