Spiders like snakes are referred to as venomous creatures rather than poisonous as they contain the poison in their fangs and not in their body. So according to that definition the most venomous spider is the Funnel-Web spider found in Australia. These spiders, shiny black in appearance are highly aggressive and their bite injects a deadly toxin that attacks the nervous system inducing vomiting and numbness that if not administered anti-venom may prove to be fatal. They are mainly ground dwellers and make burrows coming out to hunt at night.
There are a number of other venomous spiders like the Black Widow spider found in North and South America, the Brazilian Wandering spider and about eight other species found mainly in Australia; the Red back spider, the Wolf spider and White Tail spider among others. Contrary to popular beliefs the Daddy Long Legs is not the most poisonous spider in the World.
