How Do Writers Create Horror Stories?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Generally writers use their imagination, and life experience of things they have heard of, or read in the newspapers. Then they but their own twist to them to make them more sinister or terrifying. Some writers do research on real life cases and stories and then it becomes non-fiction and is a record of a true story, and  can then be even more scary.

Stephen King  is a writer whose stories bear grains of truth, but are imaginary and play on our worst fears, and also  on things that are spine chilling. To do this, writers can not be too far fetched, so they twist real life.
