Yes, the local veterans administration has a responsibility to bury their veterains. The tax payers pay for that right, as well they should. Seeing that those men lived and died for our freedoms.
Tell your friend I said thanks, to her husband for his part in our freedoms. Also for ensuring that freedom for my children and grand-children ect. ect.
He will be given the gun salute. his coffin will be draped in the American flag, of which they will neatly fold and present to his wife.
I know for absolute certain that I am correct in this matter. They bury him on land with other fallen solders. She shouldn't have to pay a penny, except for flowers and maybe a headstone (which can also be purchased at a later date.) She could take a collection for that, by asking friends and family for contributions, she could also put jars in business with the explanation he was a vet. The headstone company may give a discount for veterians.
The state also burys the dead in whats called the "paupers field". This is also free of charge. You may have to provide a headstone, in both cases, here They use wooden crosses here, to mark the different graves.
God Bless

Hey, I just remembered ther is avalible scholarship money, for all of his children. Call the veterans adminastation in your area, to find out more, there might also be more benifits, than I am aware of. Remember to have patients when dealing with the va. It can be a trying, time consuming venture, keep in mind its well worth your time.Good fortune grim1
