Take a flat screwdriver or something similar to force open the old glass off. Make sure that you do not put too much stress on the mounting plate. When you remove the glass, scrape the additional tape or adhesive with the help of a razor. Clean the surface with alcohol. Make sure that you wipe the glass too. Use the exterior mounting double sided tape because it is made of the same material used to hold antennae on rear windows.
It is recommended to visit an auto glass shop. The folks who work there are professionally equipped to take the old glass out and replace it with another one. You have to remove the cap, and the then use the screwdriver to remove the screws. If it is made of bolts, then you will have to use the spanner.
