The Simplified Spelling Society celebrated its 99th anniversary in London, where some general observations about English were discussed and exchanged.
The veracity of some facts about English are somewhat paradoxical in nature. Specially whilst one considers that English is the most universal language of the world, it is almost impossible to believe that a language with such prominent acclaim has failed to adapt to all the successive changes and developments in the past 500 years.
This statistical finding is a major cause as to why most people today have difficulty in spelling and writing English all over the world. In relation to that, the SSS has suggested to remove the 'quaint intellect' stigma from the language and instead cater to the linguistic needs of the majority in a more pragmatic regard. This could be accomplished by simplifying and changing spellings that make more sense and that are easier to learn.
Nevertheless teachers beg to differ on this suggestion. A majority of them feel that it will pulverize the soul of English and would limit it to just a rash means of communication rather than the essence of literary splendour that the language has always been destined to be.
