Yes, it is possible for people who eat the puffer fish, a prized Japanese delicacy known as fugu. In preparation of the fish for different ways of cooking, the poison is always removed by taking off the skin but if this is not done correctly, enough poison remains in the flesh of the fish to kill the person who eats it.

Puffer fish belong to the fish family Tetraodontidae. When attacked by a predator, the puffer fish defends itself by inflating its body with air (it puffs itself up, hence the name) or water until it becomes almost spherical. It has skin spines and become erect as it inflates, so that it increases in size and looks dangerous.

Puffer fish are found mainly in warm climates and they feed on molluscs, crustaceans and coral. They vary in size but can grow up to 50 centimetres long. The poison of the puffer fish is produced in its skin and the substance found there is 25 times more toxic than cyanide.

Yes u can. The fish is eaten raw (sashimi). The attraction of it is the tingling taste it has when u put it in ur mouth. The tingling sensation in caused by the poison from the fish. If the fish is not prepared correctly by the sushi chef, which has to be licensed, people can die from it.
