The Sex Pistols were a famous punk rock band that was formed in the mid seventies in London, UK. The band in a short career span of three years achieved great success and is credited with popularizing the concept of punk music. The original line up of the Sex Pistols formed in 1975 included Johnny Rotten as the lead vocalist, Steve Jones as the guitarist, Paul Cook as the drummer and Glen Matlock as the bassist.

Matlock quit the band in 1977 and was replaced by Sid Vicious who went on to become one of the most popular members of the band. Sex Pistols disbanded in 1978 at the end of a US tour with the band members deciding to go solo. Several compilation albums of the band have been released in the nineties and in recent times. The group was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November 2005, an honor that was refused by the band members.
