Which Country Has No Mountains?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Quite a few island nations in the South Pacific.  Naturally, these are the same places most threatened by the possibility of sea level rise.

    The lowest places in the world are:

    Maldives: <=2.3 m.

    Tuvalu: highest elevation is about 5m above mean sea level.

    Marshall Islands: maximum of ~10m.

    Also mountain-less nations are: Nauru, Bahrain, Singapore, Palau, Kiribati.  Bahrain and Singapore are city states on mainlands, but the others are all island-based nations in the Pacific ocean.

    Barbados is the country with the lowest maximum elevation in the Atlantic-American hemisphere, with a high point of just barely 336 m (about 1100 feet above mean sea level).

    Only qualifying mountain-less country in Europe is the island nation of Malta, with a maximum elevation of 253m above sea level.  The Netherlands just barely disqualifies as mountain-less; their highest point (a forested area shared with Belgium and Germany) just meets the usual European definition of mountain height, at 1053 (323 m) above sea level.
