Why Won't My Kitten Use The Litter Box?

My kitten is 8 week old, and we just got her from the pet store. We have tried to get her to use the litter box, but she refuses to. I have put her in the bathroom all night with a litter box, a blanket, and her food/water. And she still wont go to the bathroom in the litterbox, she will go potty on the floor and on the blankets. Everytime she gets ready to go potty i pick her up and put her uin the litter box, and she runs out like she hates it.

Maybe when you first showed it to her, was something in the room scaring her? She may remember the litter box having to do with something scary to her.

Many kittens won't use the litter box when moved into a new environment.  Try putting her into the litter box and take both back legs and paddle them in the litter as a cat would when covering it's waste.  That helps them get the idea pretty quick.  Keep her in a small space as you have been doing.  Pick up her waste and put it in the litter box so she can smell it there.  Clean the areas that she soiled with a strong bleach cleaner so the smell is completely gone from the area.  Good luck.
