Well, if its an active volcano, sulfur and other gases could affect their health; an eruption could cause loss of livelihood & possessions, no to mention loss of life. It could bolster their income from tourism, yet diminish their privacy by the same reason. They may find benefits of local natural hot springs, but tremors may make it difficult to display fragile personal treasures.
