What Does The Cat See?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A cat can see any object better in the night as it has a far superior sense of vision at night than it has during the day. Unlike human beings, cats have an inferior sense of vision in daylight. Cats, dogs and many other species of animals have a tapetum lucidum. The tapetum lucidum reflects additional light to the retina of the eyes of a cat.

A cat can see better in dim light due to its tapetum lucidum, but it has a decreased net visual acuity, which is why it gets detracted in broad daylight. In the daytime, the cat's irises, which are like slits, close very narrowly over the eye of the cat. It reduces the amount of light on the cat's retina, which is highly sensitive, and improves the depth of its field of view. The field of view of a cat is estimated to about 200 degrees, whereas it is approximately 180 degrees in case of human beings.
