When Was Sony Established?

Sony was established on 7th May 1957 by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. It's a Japanese multinational company with its headquarters at Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan. The term Sony was derived from two different words, sonus a Latin word which means sound and the English word "sunny". So it was recognised as Sonny which in Japanese is pronounced as soh-nee which means 'business goes bad'. And so, they came up with something called Sony which did not exist as a word.

Sony is the world's largest dealers and manufactures of video, communications, information technology, electronics and video games. These products are widely sold among the consumer markets. It main business operations are Sony corporation, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Financial Holdings and Sony Computer Entertainment.
