Swindon has 4 radio stations (in and around) Swindon, BBC Radio Swindon, Brunel FM, GWR FM and Classic Gold 936/1161.BBC Radio Swindon is the BBC Local Radio service. It broadcasts from its own studios in Swindon along with its Wiltshire counterpart Radio Wiltshire. As of 11 November 2002, it has partially separated from Radio Wiltshire cousin .The transmitter at Blunsdon, is not particularly strong so
that it does not cause any interfererence with   BBC WM signal for    Coventry & Warwickshire.

Brunel FM is a relatively new radio Station launched on the 2nd of September 2006 and is part of The Local Radio Company. It is run as an independent and separate company and has its own management, presenters and   journalists. Its main competition comes from Swindon and Wiltshire's GWR FM

GWR FM is the name of three Independent Local Radio stations. The radio station that serves Wiltshire  plays Adult contemporary music and their main target is 15-35 year old adults. Currently, it is the highest-rated radio station (local) in the area and beats BBC Radio Swindon as well as Brunel FM.

Classic Gold concentrates more on oldies and classics. The Regional Classic Gold station carries the network programming with the exception of a local 4-hour program in the afternoon.
