The jump of the cue ball is often seen in the hard break in the game of 9-ball. The main object is not to jump the cue ball. Still if you wish to jump the cue ball then you would have to observe the professionals closely. Your believe that the professionals make the cue ball jump by generating the power due to transferring their weight from the back leg to front in a wrong believe.

Professionals generate the power due to transferring their weight from the back leg to front but they use this power to open the bunch. If you watch closely the movement of the cue ball then you would come to know that often with the jump, cue ball draws back near to the lower border. So the technique here is where on the cue ball you strike. Cue ball often takes jump if it is hit hard and hit below the centre. As much you hit it low, more will be the chances of its jump. Try to play a hard break along with the screw shot on the cue ball. This would make the cue ball to jump after hitting the balls.
