What Is The Correct Way To Attach A Crimp Connector Or Terminal To The Wire?

I just want to know how much insulation to remove from the wire before I crimp the terminal to it. Also, do I fold back the exposed wire before inserting it into the crimp area of the terminal to create better contact? Thanks, Jim

The connector usually has a flare on the wire end, (or both it it's a butt connector).  What I usually do is put the end of the wire at the ring (fork, spade, terminal) side of the connector and see about how far  back the narrower section goes, (or halfway for a butt connector).  I then strip that much casing off.  I twist the the end of the wire clockwise and the use the same motion th put the connector on.  If you can try to look inside the insulation should touch the edge of the metal inside and enough wir exposed to see the tip of the wire with a terminal connection.  I usually crimp twice just to make sure.  Hope this helps.
