How Do You Freeze Strawberries?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Strawberries are pretty easy to freeze. Always remember to wash them well first. See to it that there is no mold or any soft discoloured spots besides no clinging dirt. So that you can avoid bruising as well as water-logging, which often happens, wash only a few berries at a time in cold water. You can drain them on absorbent paper or you can use a colander or sieve.

Proceed to trim the strawberries and use say a cookie sheets in order to lay out them out without touching. For about 45 minutes to an hour, chill the strawberries in the refrigerator. Depending on how the strength of your freezer, freeze them for at a minimum of 4 hours. After they are frozen, you can store them in freezer bags and later defrost the strawberries by the piece rather than in large clumps. You can also try using a dry-sugar or even a syrup pack.
