What Is The Mode?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A common meaning of the mode is 'fashionable'. In statistics too, it has more or less the same implication. The mode is the number that appears most often in a distribution or the mode is the score which occurs with the greatest frequency. In grouped data, the mode is taken as the mid-point of the class interval which contains the greatest number of scores. Mode is not very stable. In grouped data the mode may be strongly influenced by the width and location of class intervals. Another difficulty is that there may be more than one mode in a given distribution. If there are two modes, the distribution is called bimodal of there are more than two modes the distribution is called multimodal. In asymmetrical distribution the mode is different than the mean and median.
