The donkey also known as the jackass is a tame animal from the horse family. Nearly all the wild donkeys are anywhere in between 102 cm and 142 cm in length.

Tame donkeys stand any where between 91 cm to over 142 cm in height. Donkeys are adjustable to the marginal desert regions, and have qualities which are exclusive to the species consequently. They generally consume less food as compared to horses and overfed donkeys can suffer from a disease known as Laminitis. Like the horse’s fur, donkey’s fur is not waterproof hence they should have shelter when it rains.

Donkeys generally stay away from each other, unlike tight wild horse herds. Donkeys usually have thunderous voices which can be heard for over three kilometres, it is even used to stay in touch with other donkeys.
