I can be sure in saying that, Computer was never invented for games. Basic purpose behind its development was to carry out heavy data processing especially the calculations. From that time onwards computer was extensively used for many other purposes because of software development, like for Presentations, Documents etc.
As for games, movies and songs they just came as part of computer lately for entertainment purposes. Playing consoles, DVD Players etc are here for these purposes.
